Benefits of hiring a dog walker

Why Hire a dog Walker_(1)

There are many reasons to hire a dog walker. Having a dog walker means you can have the best of both worlds. You can have the thrill and joy of having a best friend with unconditional love, but you can also have a full time job, or go out with your family for the day and not have to feel guilty for leaving your  dog behind. You also don’t have to rely on family and friends to always help you out.

Sadly, one of the questions I get asked the most when I am out and about is “Well why would anyone need a dog walker? People shouldn’t have dogs if they can’t walk them”. It is so important to realise that having a dog walker doesn’t mean you’re an irresponsible dog owner, it actually makes you a responsible one. A lot of people don’t know where their lives will be in 10 years time, as you know, dogs are a huge commitment, much like having small furry children who can’t go to school!

Even if you don’t work, hiring a dog walker can have huge benefits to you and your dog. Dogs are social animals and often it is hard for dog owners to give their dogs the socialisation it craves and deserves. Group walks allow dogs to interact and be dogs together! They play and make new friends, as well as getting lots of mental and physical stimulation.

It is important you find the right dog walker for you and your dogs needs, so if you have any questions, feel free to contact us to discuss your needs or if you think you need help!

Welcome to Struts with Mutts!

Lets introduce the team!

Leah

Hello! I am the founder of Struts with Mutts and I have been a dog walker and pet sitter in Taunton since 2011. I have my own Cavalier King Charles spaniel called Maya; she is 13 years old and still young!

Favourite thing about the job?: Meeting new doggies and watching them grow in confidence and personality

Worst part of the job?: Split poo bags!

Secret Snackage?: Colin the caterpillars when I “have to” fill up my van at the M&S Garage…

Favourite place to walk?: THE BEACH

Danielle

The newest Auntie to Struts with Mutts is Danielle (Dan). She has joined part of the Struts with Mutts family in 2020 and she and I will be working collaboratively as a partnership to provide the best service a dog walker could offer! Dan has come from her own business which was established in 2016 and she brings with her a mountain of experience, love as well as her Old English Sheepdog Martha and Goldendoodle Iris!

Favourite thing about the job?: Getting to take my dogs to work with me and spend all my time making dogs happy!

Worst part of the job?: Split poo bags!(How could it not be???)

Secret Snackage?: Costa Black Forest Hot Chocolate in the winter … well it would be rude not to

Favourite place to walk?: Also the beach!
